Keynote: Reimagining Research–Practice Relations: Lessons from the Dutch Delta

Dr. Koen van Turnhoutis professor in the research group Human Experience & Media Design and a leading scholar in digital design within the context of applied sciences. His work focuses on how academic research can create immediate and long-lasting impact on digital design practice and society at large.

He has served as editor of Applied Design Research in Living Labs and Other Innovative Learning and Experimentation Environments and Applied Design Research: The Societal Impact. In addition, he has published several books in Dutch, including Handboek Ontwerpgericht Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (on Research Through Design) and Kennisproducten uit praktijkgericht onderzoek (on Knowledge Products).

In the spirit of the latter, this talk will focus on the plurality of relationships between research and practice, and how these can be mediated with knowledge outcomes.
